The James Grieve Apple tree grows very versatile apples that can be used in cooking or eating straight from the tree. br James Grieve apples can be picked as early as late August when still fairly firm. When the young fruit is used as a cooking apple it will hold its shape well and delivers a tangy sharp flavour. br As the apple matures it mellows and developes a soft texture similar to a pear. The James Grieve apple is also very good for juicing. br The fruit is a flushed yelloworange colour with a creamy white flesh unfortunately it is not often found in shops as it bruises easily. br The James Grieve Apple tree will deliver a heavy crop of yellow coloured apples and is reliable and resistant. The James Grieve Apple tree has received an Award of Merit from RHS. The James Grieve tree is a resilient variety that is good for growing apples in northern areas of Britain. James Grieve apple trees are self pollinating which means they do not require pollination by bees. James Grieve apples make a lovely Desert Apple. Young James Grieve apples are great for cooking.
